When Paul Swifte, of Flexible Contracting Services approached long term friend and associate Peter Bignold of Tasmanian Collection Service (TCS) recently to assist in seeking out a worthy cause for 8 New Bullard Fire Fighting Helmets he had in storage, Peter had no hesitation in contacting Donald Potter of Motorsport Tasmania, whom he knew from his involvement in the local Motorsport community.

Knowing that the Volunteer Fire Fighters at Baskerville Raceway play a vital role in everyone’s safety, Peter felt confident that they would go to a good cause.

In response to the offer Donald said, “Firstly on behalf of the wider motorsport community, I would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation for your generous donation of firefighting helmets. As you may realise, motor sport is extremely dangerous with the risk of fire being at the top of the list of concerns in our volunteer official’s roles at an event. Your donation will go a long way to ensuring our volunteers have the best chance of staying safe in any incident”.

Paul had stored these helmets after they became surplus to an earlier requirement and had no hesitation in donating them to the Motorsport community. “Anything we can do to support local events and the community, whilst keeping people safe, is a very worthy cause”, said Paul.

As to his involvement, Peter stated that he was very happy to join the dots by seeing a need and being able to facilitate a donation that benefited everyone. “I’m pleased I brought these two together, it’s a win win for everyone, we have a very strong culture of charitable work and supporting the community at TCS, one we are very proud of”.

The value of the helmet donation is around $4,000.
